Using A Z Grill

How To Start Your Z Grill

First, you will need to remove everything and open the hopper and lids and take out the racks, grease tray, and the plate sitting over the firepot. After this, you have to use the controller to turn on the switch and then turn the dial to the “smoke” option. While you do this, the fan will start up almost immediately, and the auger should be rotating now by the time the fan starts up.

It is very typical for the machine to switch on and off for the next few minutes. Your machine will emit a sound when the auger starts to rotate. You can check if the air is coming out of the fire pot by feeling the air above the top. You have to check the ignition rod located at the bottom of the firepot and see if it’s gradually heating up. Take care not to touch it, but it will turn slightly red after just a few minutes of being on the smoke setting if it heats up. There will be a bit of smoke at this point too.

It is now time to add the wood pellets into the hopper, and you do not need to fill the hopper; you need to make sure you pour enough pellets in the hopper for it to reach the safety grate. The only time you should be filling your hopper with pellets is when you are going to use your Z Grill machine for a long time. Now you can close the hopper’s lid and run the auger for some time so that it can push the wood pellets into the firepot. Once they start to drop into the firepot, it is time to burn these wood pellets by turning the controller to the shut-down cycle and then to smoke immediately, which will start the ignition rod and burn the pellets.

How To Burn-In Your Z Grill

You will need to put back the grease tray, the grill racks, etc., back into the grill, and close the lid. After this, you need to turn the controller to “high” and run the grill for 45 minutes. It won’t smell nice during your first use because you will be burning off any leftover oils from when your machine was manufactured, but this will eventually disappear. After 45 minutes, you need to turn the controller to the shutdown cycle, but do not switch off the power; instead, let the fan run for 15 minutes to burn out all wood pellets. After this, your Z Grill will automatically turn off, and you will need to clean the grill racks. You will be ready to cook after this process.

Z Grill Vs. Traeger

Z Grill Vs. Traeger

Traeger perfected the craft of pellet grills and is known as the original pellet grill brand, and people always want to know how the Z Grills fare against the Traeger pellet grills. In terms of spending money, usually, Z Grills are much cheaper than a Traeger and come with much more features than a Traeger grill and even a lid; you would have to buy a Traeger grill separately.

However, there is not much of a difference in the design in both the grills, and both of the pellet grills have a high gauge steel body and come with a powder coat, and are much durable. However, the Z Grills are usually much less portable than a Traeger grill because of the better quality caster wheels. When it comes to using the grill and the hopper, the size differs depending on the model, but usually, the Z Grills are much more spacious since they have many racks.

However, more reports of temperature control issues on the Z Grills than any Traeger grill, and Z Grills, therefore, have come up with newer upgrades that usually solve the situation. Traeger has better customer service, but Z Grills is also not far behind. Traeger also has better features and modern features with WiFi connectivity, built-in meat probes, and a much easier cleaning system. One such all in one Traeger product is Traeger Pro 575. If you are interested and looking for Pro 575 Grill and want to know in-depth information about this product, you can review our article on Traeger Pro 575.

Conclusion

The Z Grills are designed very ergonomically and come with the same features as most pellet grill brands, which are a lot pricier than Z Grills. On the other hand, Z Grills brings the same features for a much more affordable price and is therefore swiftly becoming a trendy brand among all pellet grills. However, before purchasing a pellet grill, you must always read the reviews and the specifications to get the best result out of your purchase.
